What Is Epoxy and How long does it last?

Epoxies are thermoset plastics made by the reaction of two or more industrial chemical compounds that can last any where from 10-20 years. Epoxy flooring are making their way out of just warehouses and hospitals and into homes. Epoxy floors are not only durable, but have a sleek and reflective finish that are attracting more home owners. They are used for high performance and decorative flooring, such as terrazzo flooring, chip flooring, and colored aggregate flooring. These types of flooring are available in a wide range of colors and decorative patterns. Epoxy can even be used to custom design countertops!

Is All Epoxy The Same?

No, not all epoxy is the same. The majority of choices you see, are slightly modified versions of epoxy resin tailored for a specific job. One of the most common types is Pure epoxy which can either be a one-component or two-component. Two-part epoxies will let you bond almost anything together, serving as a type of "glue" and will solidify in 2-3 hours.

What is Epoxy Used for in Building and Construction?

Epoxy is used in the manufacture of adhesives, plastics, paints, coatings, primers and sealers, all which are used in building and construction applications. Epoxy also helps provide durable, high-gloss outdoor coatings, as well as sealers for concrete floors and other heavy-duty protective coatings used in industrial settings.
